“Chris Anthony’s brilliant book Thanks, We’ll Take It From Here is an artistic and political tour de force. Check it out if you dare!”
Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, Prophets of Rage)
“Seven years ago, I stopped by Chris Anthony’s house to drop off photographs and sculptures after his show at my then gallery Spot Photo Works. I found him at a sewing machine surrounded by colorful felt jackets he was making; a cross between battle jackets and marching band uniforms. He was prepping something big. It was the first time I ever heard a friend say the direction of the country was heading us toward revolution. The have nots had far too little and the haves had way too much. He was expecting the poor, which is a phenomenal portion of American society, would break out the pitchforks (a la the French revolution) at any moment. He was not speaking of the January 6 version of ignorance and white supremacy and AR-15s; Anthony was speaking of something more hopeful, more equitable, more democratic – though still pointy and prodding and righteous.
Over the last few years, I had the pleasure of previewing various stages of his progress and frequently found myself moved and in awe of the scope and intensity of the work.
His epic book “Thanks, We’ll Take It From Here” is the most profound, cohesive, unsettling and gorgeous art book I’ve seen in years.”
